PORTLAND, Ore. - Mark Quinn had two RBIs and Ben Howard (4-5) notched three strikeouts and no walks in seven innings work to get the win, as the Beavers beat Las Vegas 3-2 before 2,883 Monday at PGE Park.
Portland (31-28) got their bats going early with seven hits in the first two innings, but only managed to squeeze one run out of the deal-a Mark Quinn single up the middle that scored Bernie Castro, giving the Beavos a 1-0 lead after one.
A Chris Clapinski homer to left tied the game briefly for Las Vegas in the fifth, but the Beavers would come back in the bottom half to take a 3-1 advantage after a Bozied RBI double and a sac-fly by Quinn.
Las Vegas (36-22) added a run in the seventh after Rick Bell hit a solo-shot to left.
Wilson Alvarez (5-1) got his first loss of the season, giving up ten hits and three runs in seven innings.
