Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast are excited to announce the first annual 'Guns and Hoses' charity hockey game on Friday January 16, with all proceeds from the contest going to Regen Brampton, a community organization that cares for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless by providing essential services such as free breakfast, access to inexpensive clothing and medical care.

Two of Brampton's finest emergency services will be on display at the Powerade Centre, as the Peel Regional Police take on the Brampton Fire Department in a friendly contest beginning at 5:30 PM with both the Police and Fire Chiefs in attendance and bragging rights on the line. The game will mark the first time the two departments have squared off against each other since the Brampton Battalion organized their own 'Guns and Hoses' themed night in their final 2012-2013 season.

Linda Jeffrey, newly elected Mayor of Brampton, will be on hand to present the winning team with an inaugural championship trophy and officially kick-off what the Beast believe will be a cherished tradition in the community for years to come.

"We are excited to host the First Annual Brampton Beast Guns and Hoses game," said Mallory Dayot, Manger of Marketing and Game Operations with the Beast. "We hope that this not only becomes a much-anticipated game on the schedule for our own organization, but for the city of Brampton as well. Partnering with Regen Brampton to promote awareness and raise funds for such an important local cause allows us to support an initiative that has a meaningful impact in the Peel region while also celebrating the emergency services in this community."

The charity game will start what is already shaping up to be a fun-filled night at the Powerade Centre with the Beast taking on the Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins' ECHL affiliate the Wheeling Nailers at 7:30, providing fans with hours of on and off-ice entertainment this Friday.

"Brampton Fire and Emergency Services is proud of our firefighters for volunteering their time to participate in the Guns N Hoses charity hockey game," said Acting Divison Chief Tina Hickey of the Brampton Fire and Emergency Services (BFES)."Supporting the Regeneration Outreach Community is an important initiative given their profound and positive impact on the community."

"I think this initiative is great," agreed Constable Christopher French of the Peel Regional Police. "You have two different emergency service providers who assist and work with the community every day that are able give back in a totally different way. Regen is a very important resource for people in need and we are honoured to be able to have an opportunity to raise some funds to support everything they do."

With the purchase of a ticket to see the Beast take on the Nailers, fans gain free access to the Guns N Hoses match scheduled directly before the Beast game. The first 200 kids in attendance will also receive a free fire helmet courtesy of Brampton Fire. Saturday is Hockey Day in Brampton, where local minor hockey teams will have the opportunity to play before the Beast game. Sunday is Beach Day at the Powerade Centre, where fans can have fun in the sun and participate in a Paper Airplane Toss during the second intermission to win two FREE Flights! Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at Bramptonbeast.com or by calling 905-564-1684.
