Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - Daniel Ciampini scored the opening goal, but the Newfoundland Growlers stormed back and added three of their own as the Brampton Beast fell 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The Brampton Beast and Newfoundland Growlers met for the second time in two days on Sunday afternoon.

The Beast opened the scoring with a goal from forward Daniel Ciampini at 3:35. The former Belleville Senator was able to take the pass from Erik Bradford and Artur Tyanulin and send the shot past Growlers starter Michael Garteig.

The rest of the period was a back and forth affair, but Jake Paterson was able to hold the line and keep the Growlers off the board. Brampton would head into the first intermission ahead by a score of 1-0 but trailing in shots to the tune of 15-12.

The second period saw both the Beast and Growlers land in some penalty trouble. The game remained 1-0 until Todd Skirving saw some open ice and sent a shot over the shoulder of Paterson to tie the game up 1-1 at 17:30.

Despite a furious push in the final minute of the period, the second ended with both teams tied 1-1 and Brampton trailing in shots by a count of 30-21.

Brampton started the third period flat and Newfoundland was able to take advantage. Rookie Giorgio Estephan converted on a Beast turnover and was able to tuck the puck in past the pad of Paterson. That gave the Growlers a 2-1 lead at 2:32 of the third period.

The Growlers were able to put the game away with the net empty, as Brady Ferguson fired home the puck at 18:55. Brampton valiantly tried to score another goal, but the Growlers and netminder Garteig held firm and finished the game with a 3-1 win.

Paterson would finish the game with 38 saves on 40 shots. Garteig would make 23 in the winning effort for the Growlers.

Notes: Molson Three Stars 3) Estephan (NFL) 2) Garteig (NFL) Paterson (BRA). Both team's finished the day perfect on the penalty kill. They were a combined zero-for-twenty-four on the man advantage these past two games. Brampton plays Wednesday, October 31st against the Manchester Monarchs. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
