Bears sign NHL veteran Jamie Rivers

HERSHEY – The HERSHEY BEARS announced today the club has signed NHL veteran defenseman Jamie Rivers to a player tryout contract. The BEARS today also announced the assignment of two players. Defenseman Tomas Slovak was assigned to the Quad City Mallards (UHL) while forward Sergei Klyazmin was assigned to the Colorado Eagles (UHL).

Rivers has 390 games of NHL experience playing with the St. Louis Blues, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers and Detroit Red Wings. An AHL second team All-Star in 1997 with the Worcester Icecats, Rivers will practice with HERSHEY today and is expected to be in the lineup when the BEARS travel to Philadelphia Friday night to face the Phantoms.

Slovak had zero points in one game played this season, while Klyazmin was held without a point in seven games.

The BEARS kick off the club's November schedule on Friday night with a game at Philadelphia at 7:05 p.m. HERSHEY will then host the Providence Bruins for a pair of games at GIANT Center on Saturday and Sunday. Face-off Saturday night is at 7:00 p.m., while Sunday's tilt begins at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.
