Hershey Bears News Release
HERSHEY looks for its seventh straight win against Albany in 2006-07 Saturday in a game at GIANT Center. The BEARS also look to make it 20 straight wins over the River Rats dating back to April, 2004.
Last Saturday, Dave Steckel scored a pair of goals and was named the game's number one star as the BEARS downed Albany 4-0 at GIANT Center. Deryk Engelland and Chad Wiseman each scored single goals to round out the offense. The victory for HERSHEY vaulted the team to 74 points overall this season.
Nolan Schaefer is expected to draw the start Saturday for the BEARS, after returning fron San Jose earlier this week. Schaefer and Maxime Daigneault take over the goaltending duties Saturday following the recall of Frederic Cassivi to Washington on Tuesday. Goaltender Daren Machesney was assigned to South Carolina (ECHL) Thursday.
The BEARS are five points back of first place Norfolk in the East Division, but also have three games in hand on the front runners. Norfolk lost 7-3 to Albany Friday night at Times Union Center, the first game of ten in a row on the road for the Admirals. The night on ice in the East Division tonight features Norfolk at Binghamton, Philadelphia at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Bridgeport will be at Lowell.
Saturday's game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM, 1490-AM and 960-AM) John Walton and Pete Vandermeer have the call of the action. The Hamilton Bulldogs will come to call Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.
