Norfolk put on an offensive show Friday in Hampton Roads, scoring the most goals against the BEARS this season in a 6-3 win at Norfolk Scope. Without the services of Eric Fehr and Alexander Giroux, HERSHEY had a hard time creating offensive chances all night long.

The Admirals came out blazing in the first period, firing 16 shots on goal and scoring twice on the power play. Martin St. Pierre scored his 11th of the season at 6:04 to give Norfolk the 1-0 advantage, with assists given to Brandon Bochenski and Troy Brouwer. With the Admirals on the power play, Tomas Fleichmann would tie the game at 1-1 at 16:28 of the first. Quintin Laing dug out a dump in during Norfolk's man advantage and found Fleischmann crashing the crease. Norfolk took the lead before intermission with a goal from Cam Barker. Barker's shot from the top of the right circle eluded BEARS backstop Maxime Daigneault, with assists to Bochenski and former BEARS forward Carl Corazzini. The Admirals held the BEARS to five shots in the first period, and took a 2-1 advantage to the dressing room.

Norfolk would run its lead out to 3-1 by scoring the first goal of the second period. David Bolland scored his fifth goal of the season from Colin Fraser and Bryan Bickell at 3:25 of the second. The BEARS would close to within one when Pete Vandermeer scored his first goal of the season at 9:58, but the Admirals didn't let up. Matt Keith scored an unassisted goal, capitalizing on a HERSHEY turnover in front of Daigneault. The goal was Keith's second of the season, and it came at 15:07 of the second. The Admirals picked up 15 more shots in the second, compared to HERSHEY'S five.

The Admirals picked up two more third period goals from St. Pierre and Corazzini, while Kyle Wilson scored in the closing seconds for HERSHEY. Vandermeer, Dean Arsene, Louis Robitaille and Tyler Sloan all headed to the showers early after a fight at 15:17 of the third period. The loss was just the fourth in regulation for the BEARS this season. Coupled with a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton win over Bridgeport, HERSHEY falls to third place in the East Division, one back of the Penguins, and two back of the front-running Admirals.

Notes: Goaltender Daren Machesney was recalled early Friday from South Carolina (ECHL) to take Cassivi's spot on the active roster. In seven games this season, Machesney posted a 2-5-0 record with a 3.24 goals against average. Machesney played the final 4:43 of the game to make his HERSHEY debut. The first year pro won 28 games last season with Brampton in the OHL. The short-handed goal by Fleischmann was HERSHEY'S 14th such goal this season, an AHL high. Alexandre Giroux and Jeff Schultz, both recalled early Friday to Washington, skated for the Caps in a 4-1 loss to New Jersey.
