Rochester Americans News Release

Tonight, the Rochester Americans will complete their five-game homestand as they take on their rivals from the north, the Toronto Marlies. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280-AM WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks. The game will also be televised tape delayed on TWSN. Santa Claus will be at the game tonight to greet fans and give advice to last-minute shoppers.

Head-to-Head: In the last meeting between the two teams on November 26th, Brandon Smith netted the game-winner in overtime to lift the Amerks to a 5-4 victory. The Amerks have won both contests between the teams this season, and are 6-4-0 against the Marlies all-time.

Amerk Notes: After starting the season 14-1-0-0, the Amerks are 6-5-1-0 in their last 12 games and have fallen three points behind Chicago (21-7-1-1, 44 pts.) in the Western Conference, but still have a three-point lead over Hamilton in the North Division. Clarke MacArthur leads the Amerks in scoring with 12 goals and 22 assists in 26 games. MacArthur is currently on a five-game point-scoring streak (3+8). Drew Stafford had two goals and two assists in last Saturday's 10-4 win over Binghamton. Stafford is riding a three-game goal-scoring streak and has six goals and five assists in his last five games. Brandon Smith has registered at least one point in his last four games (2+4). Smith currently leads the team with a plus-18. Stefan Meyer will look to continue his strong offensive play tonight. Meyer netted his first professional hat trick last Saturday against Binghamton. Craig Anderson seems to have picked up the hot hand in net for the Amerks. Anderson has won three of his last four starts, while his teammate Adam Dennis has struggled. Dennis is 1-3-0 in his last four starts. Both goaltenders have registered one shutout apiece this season.

Toronto Notes: The Marlies come to Rochester on the final leg of a five-game road trip. Last weekend, Toronto traveled to Pennsylvania where they played three games in three nights. Toronto picked up a 6-5 OT win in Wilkes-Barre on December 15th and a 4-3 shootout win in Hershey the following night. The Marlies then dropped a 5-3 decision to Philadelphia on Sunday. Kris Newbury, the Marlies second leading scorer, is currently on a five-game point-scoring streak (3+4). Erik Westrum leads the Marlies in points scored and has registered points in his last four games (1+6). Westrum has 10 goals and 22 assists in 31 games this season.

Next Game: The Amerks will cruise down to the Southern Tier to take on the Binghamton Senators Saturday, December 26th at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The 7:05 p.m. game will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280-AM WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.

Amerks to hold two public skates: The Amerks will hold a public skate at The Blue Cross Arena on Tuesday, December 26th from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The team will also hold a public skate on Friday, December 29th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. All participants must bring their own skates and have a ticket for the game that night. Kids 12 and under must also wear helmets.
