
Bears Can't Hold on in Peterborough, Lose 4-3 in OT

The Owen Sound Attack headed down to Peterborough tonight for their second match up of the season. Attack were on a three game winning streak heading into the game tonight and were looking to continue their success.
The first period started out slow until Markus Phillips got caught on the cross check and was sent to the box, sending the Petes to their first powerplay of the game. Although the Petes powerplay unit sits 19th in the league, Adam Timleck found of piece of the puck in the crease and sent it to the back of the net to open scoring.
With just over 6 minutes to go in the first period, the Attack land their first powerplay of the game when Adam Timleck is sent to the box for checking from behind. The Petes kept it cool and are able to kill off the penalty and the Attack were still down 1-0.
Mack Guzda makes a beauty save on a Butler breakaway with 33 seconds left in the period.
Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal in the first were 12-11, in favour of Owen Sound.
The second period began and not 40 seconds into play the Attack are sent to another powerplay as Cole Fraser landed a penalty for checking from behind. Petes held the Attack off and killed another penalty in the game. We were back to 5-on-5.
The rest of the second period was slow, with a fight from both sides but no more penalties in the second. Rookie Griffin Wilson got the Attack on the board very late in the second period to bring the score to 3-1 before heading to intermission.
Mark McDade shots on goal were tied at 10 in the second.
Third period starts and the Attack weren't fooling around. Only 56 seconds into the play, rookie Kaleb Pearson finds the puck and sends it to the back of the net past Petes goaltender Hunter Jones to lock in his 4th goal of the season.
Just under 9 minutes left in the game, Brady Lyle found assistant captain Aidan Dudas who slid it over to Maksim Sushko for the goal to tie the game up at 3-3.
Neither team could convert another and the game went to overtime. Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal in the third were 14-13 Petes.
Although the Bears had a couple good chances, it was the Petes that had the final say when Brady Hinz found the back of the net from Declan Chisholm and Liam Kirk to win the game in OT, 4-3.

Peterborough's Adam Timleck earned first star honours with his hattrick on the evening, while Owen Sound defenceman Brady Lyle earned the second star with 2 assists. Pete's Pavel Gogolev earned third star honours with two assists in the game. Mack Guzda stopped 31 shots in the contest.
Attack forward Cade Robinson won the Hatten Home Hardware Hardest Working Player of the Game, voted by the fans.
At the end of three and OT, Mark McDade shots on goal were 37-36, in favour of the Attack.
The Attack are back in action at home on Saturday night, when they take on the Flint Firebirds for their first match up of the season. Saturday night is also Cubs for Cancer Night, all in support of childhood cancer research and services. There will be an opportunity to bid on silent auction items, a puck toss, a bucket pass and the special theme jerseys will be LIVE auctioned off after the game! Bring your game face! The game is a 7:30PM puck drop at the Harry Lumley Bayshore.
