
Celebrating 50 Years of Special Olympics Ontario

The Kitchener Rangers, Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), Special Olympics Ontario (SOO) and Waterloo Regional Police Service are teaming up to raise awareness about the importance of individuals with an intellectual disability during an upcoming Kitchener Rangers home game.
The Rangers game on Tuesday, November 20, at 7pm at The Aud will feature a Ceremonial Puck Drop with Special Olympian Ramp Bowler, Stacey Penfold and Waterloo Regional Police Chief, Bryan Larkin.
As well, those attending the game will have the opportunity to meet SOO athletes at entrance locations where they will be collecting funds and meeting fans.
Learn more about Special Olympics Ontario at the LETR/Special Olympics Ontario-run kiosk located in the North Concourse of the venue and through various public address announcements throughout the game. Plus, visit the kiosk for a chance to win an autographed Rangers jersey!
"The Rangers are proud to once again partner with Special Olympics Ontario and we congratulate and celebrate with them, 50 years of enriching the lives of Ontarians through sport," said Michelle Benevides, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Kitchener Rangers.
The awareness campaign is part of the ongoing commitment by the Ontario Hockey League, Kitchener Rangers, LETR/Special Olympics Ontario and Waterloo Regional Police Service to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Ontario.
"Special Olympics Ontario continues to enjoy and benefit from the enthusiastic relationship of the OHL," said Glenn MacDonell, President & CEO of Special Olympics Ontario. "As we continue to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Special Olympics, we would like to thank all the players and the teams for their continued and enthusiastic support. It is our hope that the much needed funds will be raised this season - $50,000 for 50 years! There's nothing better than athletes supporting athletes."
