Hershey Bears News Release
HERSHEY â The HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with WHTM-TV (ABC-27) that three games will be televised during the remainder of the 2003-04 regular season.
The BEARS will be on TV throughout central Pennsylvania on ABC-27 beginning with the game with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, December 20th at 7:00 p.m. HERSHEY will also be on television on Saturday, January 24 when the BEARS take on the Philadelphia Phantoms at GIANT Center, and again on Saturday, April 10 when the BEARS play the Norfolk Admirals. John Walton, the voice of the BEARS on BIG 92.7 FM will provide the play-by-play of the game on television. ABC-27 Sports Director Gregg Mace will join Walton as host of the broadcast.
"It's a great opportunity for our fans to see the BEARS on television, and we are fortunate to be able to partner with ABC-27 to put together the best quality broadcast possible" said BEARS broadcaster John Walton. "We look forward to the growing of a partnership with WHTM for many years to come."
ABC-27 has previously broadcast HERSHEY BEARS home and road games, most recently the final regular season home game at historic HERSHEYPARK Arena.
"We are very excited that the BEARS are returning to ABC-27" said ABC-27 Sports Director Gregg Mace. "The BEARS are a very important part of our sports events telecasts for ABC-27 viewers. I think it's a great opportunity for fans who can't make it to the game or haven't seen this great team in person. The opening matchup against Bridgeport is perfect timing, with the race between these two teams for first place."
The BEARS still hold first place in the AHL's East Division, and travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this Wednesday at 7:05. Tickets are still available for Saturday's home game with the Worcester Icecats. Face-off Saturday night at GIANT Center is at 7:00 p.m. For more ticket information, call (717) 534-3911.
