JOLIET, IL- The Traverse City Beach Bums(16-21) only allowed three earned runs, on three solo homers, but two errors led to four unearned in their 7-0 loss to the Joliet Slammers(21-17).
Joliet took an early 1-0 lead when Lee-Jun Kalawaia scored on a fielding error. Justin Garcia led off the second with a solo homer to double the Slammers advantage. In the 3rd, Joliet put together a two out rally, helped by another fielding error, capped off by a two run double by Ridge Hoopii-Haslam, and an RBI double by Garcia, for a five run lead. Chaz Meadows led off the fourth with a solo homer, his first of the season, to make it 6-0. Garcia added his second long ball of the game, and seventh of the year, to end the night's offense.
Liam O'Sullivan picked up his second straight complete game with tonight's win as he improved to 4-2. He gave up five hits and a walk while striking out five. Matt Murphy is dealt the loss, giving up seven runs, three earned, on eight hits and two walks. He falls to 0-2.
On Sunday, the Beach Bums conclude this nine game road trip with the finale of the weekend series against the Joliet Slammers. First pitch for tomorrow's rubber game is scheduled for 2:05pm and Tom Willms will have the call, starting with the Budweiser pregame show, at 1:45pm.
