Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs fan base has told us why they are fans of The Joe, the delicious ballpark food and the club's commitment to the "Be Your Own Fan" experience. Now baseball fans in the Holy City can have their voices heard on another subject: selecting the 2011 South Atlantic League All-Star teams.
The Charleston RiverDogs and the South Atlantic League invite fans to vote for the representatives in the upcoming 2011 SAL All-Star Game on June 21 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Delmarva, MD, home of the Delmarva Shorebirds.
For the fifth consecutive season, the league is including fans in the All-Star selection process, whereas in years past, the voting was limited to SAL managers, coaches and members of the media. In a way, the SAL is extending the RiverDogs "Be Your Own Fan" marketing scheme by allowing all fans of all teams to have a hand in deciding the league's All Star teams.
Fans that would like to vote can e-mail the RiverDogs media relations office (at pr2@riverdogs.com) to nominate the players and managers whom they feel are most deserving of the honor. Fans are also encouraged to post their selections on the RiverDogs' Facebook and Twitter pages.
"Being selected to the SAL Southern and Northern Division All-Star Teams is a special honor for the league's young players, and the SAL and the RiverDogs want fans to have a loud voice in the selection process," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "This plays right into our 'Be Your Own Fan' mantra."
Whether you are a fan of big bats, great gloves or awesome arms you can have your voice heard as you help the league select its best players in the following categories (for each the Northern and Southern Divisions): manager, pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, shortstop, utility infielder (2), right fielder, center fielder, left fielder, utility outfielder (2), designated hitter and trainer.
For more information on each player and manager, fans can visit www.southatlanticleague.com to view all records and stats. All submissions should be e-mailed to the RiverDogs no later than May 27.
Infielder Luke Murton, outfielder Zoilo Almonte and reliever Ryan Flannery were the RiverDogs three All-Star representatives in 2010, as voted by fans.
