HICKORY, NC - After a standing room only crowd of 4,444 fans packed L.P. Frans Stadium on Saturday, the Crawdads now look to close the homstand on a winning note with a three-game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers this week.
The Crawdads are 21-16 through 37 games in the 2011 season, and are tied with Greensboro for fourth place in the SAL Northern Division, 4.5 games behind the first-place Hagerstown Suns.

SAVANNAH 6 vs. Hickory 1
Savannah RHP Gonzalez Germen pitched seven scoreless innings to stymie the Crawdads. CF Jake Skole scored the lone run for the 'Dads, crossing the plate on a sacrifice fly from 1B Andrew Clark.
Tuesday, May 10
SAVANNAH 3 vs. Hickory 1
Crawdads RHP Roman Mendez and Sand Gnats RHP Gregory Peavey engaged in a pitching duel with the latter coming out on top. The 'Dads scored their lone run in the second inning when a bunt from 1B Jhonny Gomez brought in RF Josh Richmond.
Wednesday, May 11
SAVANNAH 2 vs. Hickory 0
The Sand Gnats RHP Taylor Whitenton combined with three relievers for the shutout. Hickory RHP Randol Rojas surrendered only one in six innings of work, allowing the eventual game-winning run in the 5th inning.
Thursday, May 12
Hickory 1 vs. SAVANNAH 0
RHP Justin Grimm and three Crawdads relievers combined to shutout the Sand Gnats over 13 innings. Grimm threw seven scoreless innings, scattering six hits and striking out six while walking one. The Crawdads earned the victory when SS Jurickson Profar scored from third after a wild pitch from RHP Luis Rojas. RHP Joe Van Meter loaded the bases in the bottom of 13th but got out of it to earn the save and preserve the win for Hickory.
Friday, May 13
Augusta 8 vs. HICKORY 4
The GreenJackets struck four times in the ninth inning to propel the visiting side to the 8-4 victory over the Crawdads. Four walks and a throwing error doomed the Crawdads and DH Drew Biery cleared the bases with a two-out double off of RHP Jorge Marban.
Saturday, May 14
Augusta 5 vs. HICKORY 0
A standing room crowd of 4,444 fans packed L.P. Frans Stadium Saturday night and saw GreenJackets RHP Seth Rosin pitch seven scoreless innings, allowing only three hits to earn the victory. Augusta scored twice in the third inning and three more times in the fifth inning off of Crawdads RHP Carlos Melo.
Sunday, May 15
HICKORY 4 vs. Augusta 1
The Crawdads jumped on the GreenJackets early, scoring four runs over the first two innings in support of RHP Roman Mendez, who earned his fifth win of the season after allowing only one run in six innings of work.
Monday, May 16
AUGUSTA 6 vs. Hickory 5
A furious Crawdads comeback was in vain after the GreenJackets scored the tie-breaking run in the 11th inning. Battling through the rain, LHP Kevin Johnson surrendered the game-winning run, walking in a runner right before the umpires called for a rain delay. The rain kept on coming, forcing the game to be canceled and the Crawdads will receive the loss despite not getting to hit in the bottom of the 11th inning.
PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES:
~SS Jurickson Profar has a six-game hitting streak and has recorded an extra-base hit in five of the six games.
~The Crawdads have allowed the fifth-fewest runs (156), the third-fewest home runs (20), and struck out the third-most hitters (319) in the SAL.
~Hickory has 53 stolen bases in 37 games which is third-best in the SAL.
~RHP Randol Rojas and RHP Roman Mendez are tied for second in the league in wins (5).
~Crawdads batters are third in batting average (.284), fifth in runs (150), and have struck out the second-fewest times (184) in the SAL.
~The Crawdads pitching staff owns the fifth-lowest ERA (3.76) in the league, and have allowed the second-fewest hits to opposing batters (291).).
