Altoona Curve News Release

ALTOONA- The Altoona Curve and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) are pleased to announce that Blair County Ballpark in Altoona, home of the Curve, will remain the host site for the PIAA Baseball Championships through 2010.

The Curve and Blair County Ballpark have previously hosted the 2005, 2006 and 2007 PIAA Baseball Championships.

The Blair County Ballpark bid was selected from among five (5) proposals to host the Baseball Championships for the next three years. Other host site bids were received by the PIAA from Falconi Field at CONSOL Energy Park (Washington, PA), Hershey/Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau, Millersville University of Pennsylvania and the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

"We're pleased and honored that the PIAA has once again selected Blair County Ballpark as host site for the state baseball championship games," said Altoona Curve General Manager Todd Parnell. "The past three PIAA Baseball Championships have given our staff and the entire community the opportunity to welcome high school teams and their fans from across the state of Pennsylvania to one of the finest ballparks in the country and we are looking forward to hosting this event for many years to come."

The PIAA Baseball Championships are held annually on the third Friday and Saturday in June and state titles are awarded in four classifications (A, AA, AAA, AAAA).

Ticket prices will be set by the PIAA at a later date. For more information on the state baseball championships visit the PIAA website at www.piaa.org.
