Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are teaming up with local relief agencies to act as a collection point for those affected by the recent wildfires in the Grand Strand area.
As part of a coalition of local businesses and organizations lending a helping hand to the victims of the fires, the Pelicans will accept donations of clothing and household products throughout the week at BB&T Coastal Field. Items may be brought to the Pelicans front office between 9am and 5pm Monday - Friday. In addition, the Pelicans will have a silent auction table during Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights games with all proceeds going to the relief fund. The silent auction will feature autographed items from celebrities such as Tom Glavine, Eddie George and Vanna White as well as current Myrtle Beach Pelicans players.
"We understand the impact this tragic event has had on the Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand community," said Pelicans General Manager North Johnson. "I witnessed the devastation a fire such as this has when I lived in Southern California in 2003. We owe a great debt to our firefighters and volunteers for their unyielding service. As an integral member of the community, we feel it is important to join forces with our fans to help those in need."
Fans looking for more information on how to donate to the Grand Strand area fire victims can call the Pelicans at (843)918-6002.
