THE HILLCATS: Yesterday afternoon Lynchburg fell to Kinston 6-3 in the final game of a four-game set to salvage a series split...Tonight is the first game of a three-game series and the fifth game of the Cats current seven-game road trip...

VS. MYRTLE BEACH: Last year the Pelicans took the season series 13-7 and were 7-3 at home against the Cats...Lynchburg was 6-6 against the Birds until they lost seven in a row to drop the series...The last time they came to the Grand Strand they got swept in a four-game set...

CALL IT A CATS COMEBACK: The Hillcats fell down 1-0 after an inning on Friday night before rallying for the win...Eight of the Cats 11 wins have been in come from behind fashion this season...The last three victories for Lynchburg have been comeback wins...

CLUBBING CATCHER: C Kris Watts is off to an incredible start this season...In 13 games he is hitting .444 (20-for-45) with five doubles, a triple, two home runs, nine RBI, 12 runs scored and nine walks...He is first in the league in batting, on-base percentage (.554) and slugging percentage (.733)...Amongst all of minor league baseball he is second in average, first in on-base percentage, and 12th in slugging percentage...He is also riding an eight-game hitting streak and he has hit in 15 of the 16 games he has played in...

DO NOT PASS GO: 3B Pedro Alvarez went 0-for-4 yesterday with four strikeouts...He was the first Hillcat to earn a golden sombrero and it was the first time in 14 games that Alvarez did not reach base safely...He went 1-for-15 with nine strikeouts in the four-game series at Kinston...

AUTOMATIC: This season RHP R.J. Rodriguez is 6-for-6 in save opportunities, including picking up the save in Friday night's 4-1 victory...In his last six outings Rodriguez has five saves and a win and has not allowed a run...

KO'D: Yesterday RHP Michael Dubee struckout the side in order in the bottom of the eighth inning...It was the third time this season a Hillcats has struckout the side and it was the first time it has been done in order...

SMOTHERED WITH SOUTHPAWS: Kinston started a left-handed pitcher in three of the four games in the recent series, including yesterday in their 6-3 win...Myrtle Beach is slated to throw left-handers in two of the three games in this series...In 18 games this season, Lynchburg has played eight games against lefty starters and 10 against right-handers...They are 4-4 against southpaws and 7-3 versus righties...

MAKE IT A DOUBLE: UTIL Eddie Prasch has four hits this season and all four base knocks have been doubles in his six games...As a result, Prasch has a .571 slugging percentage...Last year, 22 of Prasch's 99 hits were doubles and he posted a .362 slugging percentage...

NOTHING TO SAVE: Yesterday was just the second time this season an opponent of the Hillcats recorded a save...Of the Cats seven losses, only three have been by three or less and one of them was a walk-off loss at Wilmington...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Erik Cordier was originally drafted in the second round by Kansas City in 2004 out of Southern Door high school in Brussels, Wisconsin...That year he made 11 starts with the Royals Arizona League team and went 2-4 with a 5.19 ERA...After missing all of 2005 with a knee injury, Cordier began 2006 with Idaho Falls at the Rookie level and in three starts he went 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA before his promotion to Low-A Burlington...He made seven starts with the Bees and posted a 3-1 record with a 2.70 ERA before his season was cut short due to Tommy John Surgery that would force him to miss all of 2007...In March of that year he was traded to the Braves for INF Tony Pena Jr....Last season he began with the GCL Braves and he did not have a decision or allow a run in three games (two starts)...He advanced to Low-A Rome where he went 1-2 with a 5.18 ERA in nine starts...He has made one start this season for Myrtle Beach, and took a no-decision as he allowed one run in just one inning of work...
