Chesapeake Baysox News Release

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Baysox stole five bases and scored five runs in the third inning to beat Harrisburg 7-3 Sunday afternoon. Lefty Troy Patton earned his fifth win, tying Bobby Livingston for the team lead. With the win, the Baysox improve to 21-20 on the season, 9.0 games behind the Akron Aeros in the Southern Division.

First baseman Brandon Snyder got the Baysox offense on the board with a solo home run in the first inning. Snyder has been terrific in May. In 22 games in the month, Snyder has hit .351 with 7 home runs and 24 RBI. He has hit the Baysox last four home runs and five of the team's last six.

Harrisburg would answer in the bottom of the first inning off Patton. Joel Guzman hit a two-out home run to center field to put the Senators up 2-1. Guzman would get to Patton again with an RBI single in the third.

Bowie broke the game open with aggressive baserunning in the top of the third inning. Shortstop Robert Valido led off the inning with a double and moved to third on a one-out single by left fielder Jonathan Tucker. With Snyder batting, the Baysox pulled off a successful double steal, with Valido scoring and Tucker grabbing second base. Tucker would go on to steal third base before Snyder worked out a walk. Now with one out and runners on the corners, right fielder Ambiorix Concepcion brought both runners in with a double to left. Miguel Abreu followed with a double of his own, driving in Concepcion for his 14th RBI. Abreu scored on a two-out single by catcher Adam Donachie to put the Baysox up 6-2.

Valido and Concepcion have both been swinging hot bats lately. Concepcion is currently on a six-game hitting streak and has hit safely in seven of his last eight games. Valido has hits in his last three games and five of the last seven games. Over that span, he has one double, three triples and two RBI.

Bowie would set things in motion again in the sixth inning. Daniel Figueroa led off with a bunt single down the first base line. Valido laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Figueroa to second and Dave Krynzel was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. The Baysox executed another double steal with Tucker batting, with Valido stealing third base and Krynzel taking second. Tucker lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to put the Baysox up 7-3.

The three runs Patton allowed through the first three innings were the most he had allowed in any start this season. He struck out six in the game and held the Senators scoreless over his final two innings before Ryan Ouellette came on to pitch in the sixth. Ouellette worked three scoreless innings, holding the Senators to one hit and one walk in the outing. The right-handed reliever has not allowed a run over his first 8.0 innings with the Baysox. Ryan Keefer worked a scoreless ninth to close out the victory.

The Baysox and the Senators will play the final game of the four-game series Monday at 7:00 p.m. RHP Sean Gleason will take the hill for the Baysox, Harrisburg will start RHP Erik Arnesen. The team will return home Friday, May 29, and fans will have a chance to help the Baysox set a world record by having the most people wear sunglasses at night.
