
Baysox Educate Curve in Day-Game Defeat

CURVE, Pa. - Eddy Yean tossed 2.1 scoreless innings of relief for the Curve with two strikeouts on Wednesday afternoon, but Altoona could not get its offense going in a 5-0 loss to the Bowie Baysox at Prince Georges Stadium.
Altoona recorded five hits from five different players in its fourth-straight loss. The last baserunner of the game for the Curve was a leadoff single in the fifth inning by Wyatt Hendrie, his first of the season. RHP Carlos Tavera retired 12 consecutive batters to end the game with four scoreless innings for the Baysox with seven strikeouts.
Chris Gau started a bullpen game for the Curve, allowing two runs on three hits in 2.0 innings. He surrendered a two-run home run to TT Bowens in the second inning. Justin Meis followed with 3.0 innings of relief, allowing just one run on a Frederick Bencosme home run in the fourth.
Jaycob Deese made his Double-A debut in relief of Meis for the Curve, surrendering a two-run home run to Billy Cook and allowing three hits in 0.2 innings of work before Yean took over for the final seven outs.
Joe Perez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a single in his first game back with Altoona on the season. Abrahan Gutierrez saw his seven-game hitting streak end in the loss. The Curve struck out 11 times in the loss.
Altoona continues its six-game series with Bowie on Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. RHP Alex Pham will take the mound for the Baysox with RHP Bubba Chandler set to start for the Curve.
