
Baysox Clinch Season Series against Reading

Reading, PA - The Bowie Baysox (45-47) scored four early runs and then held on to beat the Reading Phillies (48-44) 4-2.
The win was the Baysox sixth of the season against the Phillies and clinched the season series for the second straight year.
The Baysox struck first in the third inning. With two outs, Josh Barfield singled and stole second. Robbie Widlansky then knocked him in with an RBI single to left field. Manny Machado followed with a two-run home run, his eighth of the season, to give the Baysox a 3-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, the Baysox added to the lead. Buck Britton led off with a single and then score on a double by Jai Miller that made the score 4-0.
The R-Phils got on the board in the sixth inning. With one out Jiwan James reached on an infield single and went to third on a single by Cesar Hernandez. Darin Ruf then knocked in James with a sacrifice fly to make the score 4-1.
In the seventh inning the R-Phils got another run. Tim Kennelly and D'Arby Myers hit back-to-back two-out singles. Troy Hanzawa then followed with a third single to knock in Kennelly and make the score 4-2.
Rick Zagone got the win throwing six innings and allowing just one run on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
Mario Hollands got the loss going six innings and allowing four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
Kyler Newby finished off the game with his fourth save of the year. He threw a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts.
Tomorrow in the finale of the four-game series RHP Zach Clark (7-4, 3.82) will get the start against RHP Jonathan Pettibone (7-6, 3.65). First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
The Baysox are currently on a seven-game road trip. All of the games can be heard on www.baysox.com . They will return home on Thursday, July 19 for a seven-game homestand that begins with four games against the Binghamton Mets.
