BayHawks Draft Eight Players to Complete Training Camp Roster

Erie, Pennsylvania, Thursday, November 3 - The Erie BayHawks used the seventh and ninth overall picks in the 2011 NBA Development League Draft to select guard Cory Higgins and center Chris Daniels on Thursday night.

"We're very happy we were able to get Higgins and Daniels," said BayHawks head coach Jay Larranaga. "We had them both ranked very high on our board and are excited about what we think they can bring to the team. I can't wait to get (training camp) started next week."

The Los Angeles D-Fenders selected former NBA first round pick Jamaal Tinsley from Iowa State with the first overall pick.

Higgins (6-5, 180) out of the University of Colorado, is a three-time All-Big 12 third team selection. During his senior season with the Buffaloes, Cory averaged 16.1 points per game and 2.5 assists. Higgins finished his career at Colorado in the top ten in steals, free throw percentage and assists. His father, Rod, played in the NBA as a forward for 13 seasons.

Daniels (7-0, 265) played collegiately at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and professionally in Puerto Rico and South Korea. He is the school's single-season record holder in blocks (53) and led the Islanders to their only Southland Conference title. Daniels was selected to participate in the 2011 Team USA Pan American Games training camp along with BayHawks guard Blake Ahearn. While in Korea, Daniels averaged 15.2 points and 8.8 rebounds for KCC Egis.

The BayHawks open a two-week training camp on November 10 at the LECOM Medical Fitness & Wellness Center where seventeen players will compete for ten roster spots.
