Bayda Gets The Call From Carolina

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that left wing Ryan Bayda has been recalled by the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League.

Bayda, 27, has been recalled to the Hurricanes three times this season and has played seven NHL games this year. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native is in his fourth stint of the year with Carolina, having made their NHL roster out of training camp. Bayda returned to the River Rats lineup last Saturday against Syracuse in Glens Falls, playing his first game since missing 22 games with an injury suffered on December 14th in Lowell. In 21 games for Albany this season Bayda has 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists), a +3 plus-minus rating and he ranks third on the team with a 0.81 points-per-game average.

Bayda will travel to Massachusetts immediately to meet up with the Hurricanes for their game tonight against the Boston Bruins at the TD Banknorth Garden. He has played in 85 career NHL games, all with Carolina, registering 22 points (8 goals, 14 assists).

The River Rats will return to the Times Union Center as they undergo a three-game home stand this week beginning with a Wednesday, February 13th game against the Binghamton Senators at 7:00 pm. Friday Albany hosts the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Saturday the East Division-leading Philadelphia Phantoms are in town; both games are scheduled for 7:00 pm.
