
BayBears Wrap up Sunday Doubleheader with Big Win

MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears capped off their twin-bill against the Jackson Generals with a big 9-0 shutout in game two at Hank Aaron Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Mobile (15-21) split the doubleheader against Jackson (22-14) to pick up their 15th win of the year. Despite dropping game one 0-2, the BayBears rebounded with their best win of 2016 to cap off the double-dip.
Game Two: Mobile 9, Generals 0
Mobile took an early lead in game two, scoring four in the first inning, two in the second and three in the third, cruising to a 9-0 shutout. The BayBears blanking of the Generals was Mobile's fifth shutout win of the season.
The BayBears chased Generals starter Andrew Kittredge (1-1, 5.68) after just one inning but not before tacking on six runs on six hits to the righty's line. Mobile took the lead on a two-run double by LF, Mitch Haniger. Haniger scored on a single from catcher, Ronnie Freeman, and the Mobile backstop would come in on 1B, Kevin Cron's sacrifice fly to put Mobile up 4-0 at the end of the first.
Mobile added three more runs in the third. 3B, Kevin Medrano pushed across a couple of runs with a two-run double and a RBI single from Haniger added in another run a the BayBears went on to finish with nine runs on 12 hits. The nine run spread in Mobile's largest win of the season.
Game One: Generals 2, Mobile 0
Dylan Unsworth (3-0, 1.08) shut the BayBears Bat down in game one, throwing a seven-inning, complete game shutout as the Generals topped Mobile 2-0 win. The righty allowed just two hits without walking a single batter and recorded six strikeouts.
Jackson posted the only two runs of the game in the second inning. RF, Tyler O'Neill struck with a solo home run to straightaway centerfield for the first run. 3B, Zach Shank crossed home for the second run on a RBI base hit from 1B, Dan Paolini to make it 2-0.
BayBears RHP Zack Godley (1-5, 4.32), had to settle for the loss despite holding the Generals to four hits, allowing just the two runs over seven innings.
The BayBears and Generals continue their series on Monday with first pitch set to begin at 6:35 p.m. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
