BayBears Bash Generals 10-3 for Second Straight Win

MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears won big, topping the Jackson Generals 10-3 on Monday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. The BayBears (16-21) tallied nine of their 10 runs in the first three frames. Mobile has now scored 19 runs over the last 16 innings of play to outscore the Generals 19-3 in the last two games.
The BayBears sent 12 men to the plate in the bottom of the first frame, scoring six runs on eight hits. Center fielder Evan Marzilli reached safely twice in the inning, the second time knocking in two runs with a single down the right field line.
Jackson (22-15) cut Mobile's lead in half, scoring three runs in the top half of the third, highlighted by a solo home run from Generals' left fielder Tyler O'Neill. Four of O'Neill's eight Southern League-leading homers have come off of BayBears pitchers this season.
Mobile extended the lead to six again with three more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Second baseman Jamie Westbrook drove in all three runs with a three-run homerun to left. The long-ball was Westbrooks' first of his Double-A career.
BayBears DH, Stewart Ijames hit his team-high fifth home run of the season, a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth to push Mobile out in front 10-3. Mobile finished with a total of 16 hits on the night, half of which came in the first inning alone.
LHP Anthony Banda (3-2) earned his first win in front of the home town crowd this season. The lefty allowed just three earned runs on five hits, walking two batters and striking out six in six full innings of work on the mound.

The BayBears and Generals continue their six game series on Tuesday with first pitch set to begin in game five at 6:35 p.m. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
