Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, came three outs away from a shutout in a 5-1 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

BayBears starter Luis Madero tossed four scoreless innings, and Jesus Castillo (6-6) retired all nine batters he faced in relief with five strikeouts to earn the win. The Mobile (46-78 overall, 19-37 second half) bullpen had retired 23 consecutive batters dating back to Monday's game before a two-out walk in the eighth.

The BayBears got on the board early against Johendi Jiminian (3-5) with a Jordan Zimmerman RBI single in the first. Jahmai Jones hit a three-run double to highlight a four-run fourth inning.

Michael O'Neill broke up the shutout bid with a home run to lead off the ninth inning. It was Chattanooga's (55-71, 19-38) only hit after the third inning.

The BayBears continue the five-game home series against Chattanooga Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. Southpaw Greg Mahle (1-2, 2.10 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Wendolyn Bautista (1-2, 5.26 ERA) for the Lookouts. Live coverage can be seen on MiLB.tv (subscription required, promo code: BAYBEARS) and heard on MobileBayBears.com, the TuneIn app, and the MiLB First Pitch app, with the Countdown to First Pitch starting at 6:15 p.m.
