Bats Take Game Three of Series against Indians, 3-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (54-78) defeated the Indianapolis Indians (64-67) by a 3-2 score at Louisville Slugger Field. Mitch Nay gave the Bats their 160th home run of the season, which tied the single season record set in 2010 for most home runs since they have been affiliated with the Cincinnati Reds.

The Indians got their first runs across early when Jake Elmore hit a two-run shot in the first inning. The Bats scored their first run of the game in the third inning with a bases loaded four-pitch walk from Columbus pitcher JB Shuck to Alex Blandino that scored Vladimir Gutierrez.

Shuck gave up one run on two hits to the Bats in his 2.2 innings pitched, walking three batters and striking out two.

Louisville took the lead in the sixth when Nay hit a two-run homer to put them up 3-2. Nay went 3-for-4 in the game with two singles and a home run. The score remained for the rest of the game with the Bats pulling away with the win.

Gutierrez (5-11, 6.31) got the win for the Bats getting his team-leading tenth quality start of the season, throwing 6.0 innings, giving up two runs on five hits, only walking one and striking out seven. Matt Bowman got his fourth save of the season in his inning on the mound, giving up one walk.

The loss went to Rookie Davis (1-5, 5.47) who threw 3.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out three.

Louisville stays at home to start the four-game series against the Columbus Clippers with first pitch set for Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field. Right-hander Tyler Mahle (0-2, 9.00) is set to pitch for the Bats and is set to face off against Shao-Ching Chiang (8-8, 5.17) for the Clippers.
