Bats Shutout 3-0 in Final Game of Series Against Tribe

Louisville, KY - Four Indianapolis Indians' pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout Saturday evening and defeated the Louisville Bats 3-0 in front of 10,834 fans at Louisville Slugger Field. Despite the loss, Louisville still won the unique six-game series between the teams, 4-2.
Louisville managed just four hits against Indians' starter John Thompson (1-1, 3.86) and three relievers and advanced two runners into scoring position all night. Shortstop Paul Janish accounted for the Bats' only extra-base hit with a double in the eighth inning.
Indianapolis put a runner on base in all nine innings, collecting a hit in eight of nine frames. The Tribe jumped up to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Matt Kata hit an RBI single driving in Neil Walker. They added to their lead in the fifth inning when Adam Boeve hit a two-run homer to center, his 11th of the season.
Bats starter Adam Pettyjohn (7-4, 5.40) took the loss, throwing six innings, giving up eight hits and three earned runs. He walked two and struck out one. Daniel Ray Herrera and Todd Coffey combined to pitch three innings of scoreless relief.
Thompson pitched five innings of one-hit ball to earn the win, walking one and striking out two. Jesse Chavez worked the ninth inning for his sixth save of the season.
The Bats will start an eight-game road swing on Sunday evening at 5:35PM when they travel to Allentown, Pa. for the first of four games against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. RHP Ramon Ramirez (2-2, 5.09) will start for the Bats in the franchise's first-ever trip to Allentown. Lehigh Valley will counter with LHP Les Walrond (2-7, 3.92).
