The Tri-City Dust Devils (16-24 2H, 50-56) and the Vancouver Canadians (28-16 2H, 66-39) played a fourth straight tight ballgame Friday afternoon at Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium, with Vancouver coming away with a 1-0 win.

The only run in the contest came in the bottom of the 1st inning when the Canadians strung together three singles off Tri-City starter Chase Chaney (6-5). CF Garrett Spain, who had the first single of the bunch, scored on DH Cade Daughty's RBI hit to left. SS Alex de Jesus had singled in between Spain and Daughty, the three hits the only base knocks Vancouver would have all game.

The Dust Devils were held to just four hits on the afternoon, one in each of the first four innings. CF D'Shawn Knowles doubled in the 1st and the visitors got singles in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings from LF Alexander Ramirez, C Caleb Pendleton and 3B Werner Blakely, respectively. Knowles and 2B Adrian Placencia added walks along the way, but none would make it to the pay station. Placencia's walk extended his on-base streak to 11 games.

Chaney put together a fifth straight quality start for Tri-City, going six innings and giving up just the run on three hits. The Lawrenceville, Georgia native struck out three and walked two in his outing, taking his ERA down to 3.10. Lefty reliever Dylan Phillips threw two perfect innings with a strikeout to cover the remainder, helping give the rest of the bullpen a day off.

The loss extended the Dust Devils' losing streak to six games, the longest of the season, but the series has been close: the four losses to start the series have come by a combined five runs. It also ended up the tenth time this season that Tri-City has been shut out.

The Dust Devils will dust themselves off and get back to work in preparation for game five of their six game series, scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start Saturday night at Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium. Tri-City has announced it will send left-hander Nick Horvath (0-0, 0.00 ERA) to the hill for his first start as a Dust Devil, and Vancouver has appointed right-hander Rafael Sanchez (0-7, 6.11 ERA) as its starter.
