Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, WI - A day after the Mallards' defense took over against Fond du Lac, the Ducks' offense came alive in a 12-5 win over the Green Bay Rockers on Thursday night from Warner Park.

The Mallards second straight victory began with an early 3-0 deficit due to the Rockers' Danny Wuestenfield's first home run of the season off starting pitcher Ryan O'Hara. O'Hara (5.0 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K), who hit the 35-pitch limit in his previous start, followed with his second victorious decision of the season at the Duck Pond. After the Mallards scored one in the bottom of the 3rd, Madison's offense exploded in the 4th. The entire starting nine came to the plate and came through with seven singles scoring six runs. Adrian Mella and J.T. Mabry both were able to push bunts down the third base line for hits in the inning. Nick Gonzalez and Scott Shaw both drove in two runs a piece on their base knocks.

The Rockers brought the game within two runs in the top of the 6th against a combination of O'Hara and reliever Kade Lancour. However, Madison's offense backed up the defense again by plating three more runs in the home half. The first four batters of the frame were able to reach including All-Star catcher Josh Caron's (2-4, 2B, 3B) first collegiate triple which drove in two of the three runs. J.J. Rollon recorded his third game of three or more hits. Rollon (3-5, 2 RBI, R) also stole two bases from the Rockers in the win. As insurance to their lead, the Ducks added two more in the bottom of the 8th thanks to singles from J.T. Mabry and Rollon. Bryce Woody (2.1 IP, 1 H, 2 K) slammed the door on Green Bay in the final inning and two-thirds.

The Mallards continue their home stand tomorrow with Green Bay. Game action can be found under the 'Live Action' tab on the Northwoods League website at 6:15 for pregame show coverage and a 6:35 first pitch.
