Macon Mayhem News Release
Garrett Bartus posted his third shutout of the season, backstopping the Macon Mayhem to a 4-0 win over the Louisiana IceGators Friday night at the Macon Coliseum. Bartus is tied with Fayetteville's Sean Bonar for the Southern Professional Hockey League lead in shutouts.
While he was stopping 29 shots at his end of the ice Bartus' teammates went to work on goals by Mark Rivera, Vadim Guskov, and Shawn Skelly in the second period, after a scoreless first period. . Jackson Brewer capped the scoring with just less than five minutes to go in the third period.
Rivera's goal brought a rain of about 500 teddy bears and stuffed animals onto the ice. The bears will be delivered to area children's hospitals and distributed to public safety agencies to help children in stressful situations.
The win moves the Mayhem to within one point of Louisiana for seventh place in the standings.
Macon is back in action Sunday afternoon in a home game against the Huntsville Havoc.
