THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER
The Rivermen enter play tonight paced in assists by defenseman Brandon Greenside with 28 and in plus/minus at +32. Greenside enters play this weekend leading all SPHL defenseman with 33 points and 28 assists, and his +32 rating is tops among all SPHL skaters, followed on the league leaderboard by teammates Chris Wilson (+25) and Steve Morra (+20). Greenside is also the only Rivermen player this season to see action in all 46 team games.
APPROACHING MILESTONES
The Rivermen enter play this weekend with several players at or near milestones for their career statistics. Rivermen winger Matt Summers comes into play tonight with 499 career games played, while defenseman Brandon Greenside and winger Alec Hagaman played their 100th career games last weekend. Rivermen winger Cody Dion notched his 100th career point with last Saturday's game-winning goal in overtime, and Peoria center Adam Stuart comes into play tonight with 98 career goals, just two shy of 100.
THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH
This season, the Rivermen have out-shot opponents 552-419 and out-scored foes 59-29 in the first period of games, each the widest such margin for any team in any period this season. Overall, the Peoria offense ranks second in the SPHL in shots on goal per game at 34.22, trailing only Pensacola's 35.33. Defensively, the Rivermen also rank second, allowing only 29.57 shots on net per game. In terms of goal scoring, the Rivermen lead the league with both 3.59 goals scored per game and 2.22 goals allowed per game. When scoring first, the Rivermen are 30-4-2, and when leading after one period Peoria is 23-3-0 this season.
WHAT'S AHEAD
After tonight's game the Rivermen will conclude the series in Pensacola Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. After that, the Rivermen will return home for a pair of games March 25 & 26 against Mississippi, then make their final road trip of the year when they play games April 1 & 2 in Knoxville before finishing the regular season on home ice April 7-9 against Columbus.
