WEEKEND RECAP: The Barrie Colts posted a 1-1 record in two games over the weekend to extend their overall record to 32-12-0-1 on the season with 65 points..They are currently seven points ahead of the Mississauga Ice Dogs for first place in the Eastern Conference standings through 45 games of a 68 game regular season schedule..With a 4-3 victory over Saginaw at the Molson Centre on Saturday, the Colts improved their home record to 14-7-0-1 on the season, meanwhile, they dropped a 7-2 decision at the Hershey Centre on Friday to drop to 18-5-0-0 on the road

January 20 vs. SAGINAW: The Barrie Colts got a third period lift from Kris Sparre as he broke a 3-3 tie with just 31 seconds left in regulation to give the Colts a 4-3 victory Saturday evening over the visiting Saginaw Spirit....A nice individual effort, Sparre beat a Spirit defender one-on-one, and sent the puck into the top corner over the catching hand of goaltender Ryan Daniels.....The Colts trailed 1-0 after the first period and then came back to go ahead 2-1 after two thanks to goals by Hunter Tremblay (18) and Richard Clune (24)....The two teams traded goals back and forth again, as Bryan Little (28) put the Colts ahead at 6:30 of the third until Ryan McDonough tied the game again at 17:04....Sparre was named the game's first star as he also added one assist....Little added two assists to his goal, and Andrew Marshall was credited with three helpers....The victory improves Barrie's home record to 14-7-0-1 on the season, and they remain seven points ahead of the Mississauga Ice Dogs for first place in the Eastern Conference....Andrew Perugini made 34 saves Saturday and picked up his 29th victory of the season

January 19 @ MISSISSAUGA: The Barrie Colts had their two game winning streak snapped by division rivals Mississauga by a final score of 7-2 at the Hershey Centre Friday evening... The game represented the fifth time these two teams have met this season, with Mississauga now holding a 3-2 advantage... Stefan Della Rovere returned to action after missing eight games and immediately made an impact, scoring the game's first goal early in the first period... Vladimir Nikiforov was the other Colts scorer, collecting his sixteenth of the season on the power play.The Ice Dogs then took control, adding to their league-leading goal total by scoring five unanswered goals in the third period.Goaltender Andrew Perugini posted 43 saves in the loss, the sixth time this season he has collected 40 or more saves in a game

January 14 @ BRAMPTON: The line of Bryan Little, Richard Clune and Hunter Tremblay combined for eight points (3g-5a) and Vladimir Nikiforov (15) scored a shorthanded goal with just 2:52 left in the third period as the Colts scored a 4-3 victory Sunday afternoon against the Brampton Battalion....The win extended Barrie's record to 31-11-0-1 on the season, as Sunday afternoon marked their 18th road victory of the season.....Bryan Little scored a pair (26,27) and Richard Clune added Barrie's other goal, while 16-year old rookie netminder Michael Hutchinson made 28 saves for the victory to extend his record to 3-3-0-0 on the season....The Colts and Battalion were tied 2-2 through two periods, and then traded third period goals before Nikiforov provided the shorthanded winner with 2:52 left in the third

WHAT'S ON TAP: The Colts have three games on their schedule for this weekend beginning Friday evening (7:30 p.m.) when they make their first and only trip to Guelph to face the Storm.The Storm defeated the Colts in their only other meeting this season by a score of 3-0 back on New Year's Eve at the Molson Centre..Guelph's lineup features two-time World Junior Gold Medalist, defenseman Ryan Parent, and Barrie native, right winger, Matt Kennedy..The Storm are 23-15-2-65 on the season, and feature rookie netminder Thomas McCollum, who leads all OHL goaltenders with a 2.21 goals against average..The Colts Saturday return home to host the Sudbury Wolves (21-19-2-5) at the Barrie Molson Centre..The Colts have defeated the Wolves in all three trips to the Sudbury Arena having outscored them 13-4, while the Wolves posted a 4-2 victory in their only trip to Barrie back on November 25...Sudbury's lineup features newly acquired forward Justin Donati, who is tied for eighth in league scoring with 68 points (31g-37a) on the season...The Wolves picked up Donati, one of the league's most prolific overage point producers, in a deadline deal with the St. Michael's Majors..The Colts conclude their weekend on Sunday when they visit the Brampton Battalion (18-25-1-4) for the second time in two weeks..This will be the Colts' final trip to the Powerade Centre this season as they have posted two victories there thus far to go along with two victories at the Molson Centre

IN SIGHT: Fourth year player Bryan Little recorded one goal and two assists in Barrie's 4-3 victory over the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday to bring his career point total to 304 points (140g-164a) throughout 225 career games..Little is now just 30 points shy of tying former Colt Daniel Tkaczuk, who leads the all-time Colts point list with 334 (145g-189a) through 238 career games..If Little keeps his current season pace of two points per game, he could tie and break the record at the end of February.The Cambridge, ON native is also just five goals away from tying Tkaczuk for the all-time Colts goal mark

GOALS FOR AND AGAINST: The Colts have scored 176 goals through 45 games, placing them in a tie for ninth overall in the OHL in this category.Defensively, the team is fourth overall having given up 139 goals, good for fourth overall in the league in this category..In terms of goals for and against per game, the Colts have scored 3.91 and allowed 3.09

SPECIAL TEAMS OUTLOOK: The Colts' powerplay is currently second overall in the OHL having scored 67 goals on 292 opportunities for an efficiency of 22.9%.....On the penalty kill, the Colts are tied for ninth overall as they have killed 263 of 320 shorthanded situations for an efficiency of 82.2%

ROSTER NOTES: Forward Stefan Della Rovere returned to the lineup and scored a goal Friday after he missed the club's previous eight games with an upper body injury..Defenseman Kyle van de Bospoort missed both games this past weekend and is listed as week-to-week with an upper body injury..In addition, Cory McGillis and Matthew Bragg Friday will each sit out their second games of two game automatic suspensions they each received for fighting in the later stages of Friday's loss in Mississauga
