August 7, 2013 - Southern League (SL1)
Birmingham Barons News Release

Tyler Saladino crushed the second pitch he saw in the 10th inning deep into the Birmingham night to give the Barons a walk-off 7-6 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in front of 5,001 fans at Regions Field.

The homer, Saladino's fifth of the season, was the first walk-off home run of his career. He finished 2-for-6 on the night with two runs scored and two RBI.

The extra-inning battle was a back and forth affair for much of the night with Pensacola taking an early 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and second innings, getting a two-out ground rule double by Yorman Rodriguez and an RBI single by Donald Lutz in the first and an run scoring single by Ray Change in the second.

The Barons would come back to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Dan Wagner and a dropped third strike against Keenyn Walker that allowed Cody Puckett to score from third.

The score would remain 2-2 until the 5th as both starters settled into a grove. Pensacola would then pull ahead with a sacrifice fly by Devin Lohman in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead.

The Barons would take their first lead of the game with four runs in the 6th. Puckett continued to swing a hot bat against his former team, tying the game with a ringing double off the wall in center field and scoring on an RBI single by Tyler Saladino to make it a 4-3 lead. Trayce Thompson would follow a Jared Mitchell base hit with a two-run double down the left field line to push the lead to 6-3.

Barons' starter Scott Snodgress looked to be in line for his league-leading 12th win after allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits over 6.0 IP while striking out five. The Barons four-run outburst in the sixth put him in line for the win, however, the back-and-forth affair would take another turn in the seventh as Pensacola scored three runs to tie the game at 6-6 on RBI singles by Yorman Rodriguez and Donald Lutz.

Dan Remenowsky (1-2, 4.26) picked up his first win of the season for the Barons, allowing a hit in a scoreless inning of work in the 10th.

With the win, the Barons improved to 69-46 and 25-20 in the second half while Pensacola fell to 47-66 and 22-22 in the second half.

The Barons will enjoy an off-day on Wednesday before embarking on a 10-game road trip, beginning with five games against the BayBears in Mobile. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 7:05 PM CDT.
