Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

CLEVELAND, OH - The Grand Rapids Griffins (29-14-8-2), playing their third game in three nights, dropped a 1-0 decision to the Cleveland Barons (15-32-3-4) at Gund Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Pat Rissmiller wristed a power play goal under the cross bar at 17:57 of the second period from David Cloutier.

The Barons netminder, Seamus Kotyk, was the story of the game, as he stopped all 37 shots he faced, including a penalty shot by Mark Mowers. The referee Wes McCauley ruled that Ryan Kraft closed his hand on the puck in the crease. Mowers tried to shoot the puck between Kotyk's legs, but Kotyk stopped the puck.

The Griffins were not successful in all four power play opportunities, including a five-minute major penalty assessed to Tavis Hansen in the first period.

The Griffins are now 15-4-3-2 (0.729) in 24 road outings.

Marc Lamothe made 13 saves in a losing effort.

The Griffins return to action when they host the Philadelphia Phantoms for the first time ever. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
