Komisarek Recalled and Blouin Joins Bulldogs

The Montreal Canadiens, a parent club of the Hamilton Bulldogs, have recalled Bulldogs' defenceman Mike Komisarek and have assigned left-winger Sylvain Blouin to Hamilton.

Komisarek, a 6'4, 240 pound defenceman, was the Bulldogs' top offensive defenceman at the time of his recall. In 55 games in Hamilton, the West Islip, New York native posted 4g-24a-28pts, along with 75 penalty minutes. Komisarek was a starting defenceman for the PlanetUSA All-Stars at the Dodge 2003 AHL All-Star Classic held in Portland, Maine earlier in the month. The 21-year-old was drafted 7th overall by Montreal at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Blouin, a 28-year-old Montreal native, has played in 17 games with the Canadiens this season and posted 43 penalty minutes, while going scoreless. The 6'2, 207 pound forward was acquired by Montreal on October 31st, 2002 from the Minnesota Wild for a 7th round choice at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Blouin played in two games with Minnesota this season and earned four penalty minutes, before being acquired by the Canadiens. An original draft choice of the New York Rangers in 1994, Blouin has played with Montreal, Minnesota and the N.Y. Rangers in 115 NHL games over the course of his career and has earned 3g-4a-7pts and 336 penalty minutes. As well, he has competed in 333 AHL games tallying totals of 49g-62a-111pts and 1665 minutes in penalties.

The Hamilton Bulldogs next home action takes place on Tuesday, February 11th as the Rochester Americans visit Copps Coliseum. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
