Tim Smith reassigned to Columbia

Today the Manitoba Moose announced that left winger Tim Smith has been reassigned to the Columbia Inferno of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).

Smith, 21, had played in three AHL games with Manitoba this season. The 5'9" forward registered no points while with the Moose. He was recently recalled to Manitoba on February 3 and saw action in three out of the last four matches.

Smith has played the majority of the 2002-03 season with Columbia. He was originally assigned to the Inferno on September 30/02 and has played in 48 ECHL games and posted 36 points (16 goals and 20 assists) with 34 penalty minutes. At the time of his recall, the Rochfort Bridge, AB native was tied for fourth among Inferno players in scoring and tied for third among active Inferno in goal scoring. He was also tied for ninth among ECHL rookies with his 36 points and had the highest shooting percentage among active ECHL rookies at 19.0% (16g/84s).

Smith was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks with their seventh choice, 272nd overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
