BIRMINGHAM, AL â Despite a season-high six errors, the Birmingham Barons beat the Jacksonville Suns 8-5 in front of 1,722 fans on Wednesday evening at the Hoover Met. The win gives the Barons a one game lead in the Western Division as Mobile and Huntsville were rained out.
Tetsu Yofu threw six innings and gave up four runs (two earned) while striking out seven but got the no decision as he exited the game with the score knotted at four all. The Barons broke the tie in the seventh when they plated four runs on a two RBI double by Gabe Alvarez and a two-run single by Scott Bikowski. Alvarez ended the night going 3-for-4 with four RBI and Bikowski went 2-for-4 with three RBI to extended his hitting-streak to 14 games. His streak ties him with Alvarez for second longest by a Baron this season. Danny Sandoval and Juan Piniella each scored three runs for the Barons.

Reggie Abercrombie was the offense highlight for the Suns as he went 3-for-5 with a double a triple and two RBI. Lino Urdaneta picked up his eighth loss of the season as he dropped to 0-8 on the season.
The Barons look to even the series as they send out LHP Neal Cotts (9-6, 2.24) to face RHP Will McCrotty (1-3, 4.31). All the action can be heard on 101.1 FM "The Source" with Curt Bloom on the play-by-play.
