Greenville, SC.— Greenville used a 14-hit attack and strong seven innings from starting pitcher Adam Wainwright to down the visiting Orlando Rays 6-1 at Greenville Municipal Stadium Wednesday.

The Rays (19-25, 51-62 overall) managed only four hits over seven innings off Wainwright (7-7), who struck out six Orlando hitters in winning his second straight decision.

John-Paul Davis accounted for Orlando's only run when he hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot to right in the 4th inning. Shawn Riggans went 2-3 with two doubles, while B.J. Upton added a 2-4 effort in the loss.

Greenville pounded Orlando starter Jose Veras (L, 6-9) in his 5.1 innings of work, reaching the big right-hander for six runs on 13 hits, snapping his personal two-game win streak. Reliever Dan Guillory tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, limiting the Braves offense to just one hit while striking out three.

Orlando and Greenville close out the four-game series tomorrow at 7:15, with the Rays sending righty Scott Autrey (2-2, 2.95) to the mound to face G-Braves lefty Ray Aguilar (0-4, 4.27).
