
James Jurries Named Topps SL Player of the Month

GREENVILLE, SC - Greenville Braves infielder James Jurries has been named the Southern League's "Topps Player of the Month" for July. Jurries, a native of Lake Jackson, TX, hit a scalding .390 in July with three home runs and 17 RBI. He also led the G-Braves with ten doubles.
Jurries was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the sixth round in the 2002 draft out of Tulane University, where he was a three-time All-Conference USA selection. Jurries is currently ranked eighth in the SL in batting, hitting .294 for the season with eight home runs and 43 RBI. He represented Greenville in the 2003 SL All-Star Game in Jacksonville as the starting third baseman for the Eastern Division team.
