The Barons ended their historic first half Sunday at Regions Park with an 8-3 loss to Huntsville.
Kyle McCulloch (6-7, 4.52) lasted just four innings in the first-half finale that ended the Barons' season-high 10-game winning streak. He allowed seven runs on 11 hits.
The Barons jumped ahead early, scoring twice in the first inning but didn't provide much offense the rest of the day.
The Barons ended the first half with their best record since the 1989 team went 53-18. They will have home field advantage when the playoffs open on Thursday, September 10.
The Barons travel to Mississippi to open the second-half of the 2009 season on Monday. Charlie Shirek (1-0, 1.98) looks for his second win against the Braves.
