Birmingham Barons News Release

The Barons dropped their second straight game to begin the second half, falling on a walk-off RBI single by Jose Martinez as the M-Braves topped the Barons 3-2 in front of 4,205 fans at Trustmark Park.

Trailing 2-0, the Barons would claw back to tie the game with single runs in the 5th and 6th. Marcus Semien started the scoring with a solo home run against M-Braves starter Michael Lee, his 5th homer of the season and second against the Braves.

In the 6th, the Barons would tie the game thanks to a bases loaded walk drawn by Michael Blanke against Juan Jaime.

The game would remain tied until the 9th when back-to-back walks issued by Taylor Thompson set the stage for Jose Martinez who delivered with an RBI single to center, as the Barons fell to 0-2 in the second half.

Thomspon (3-1, 2.56) took the loss while M-Braves reliever Ryne Harper (4-1, 1.82) picked up the win, allowing a hit over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Trayce Thompson finished 3-for-5 with a run scored in the losing effort, his 3rd three-hit game in the last week.

The Barons will look to rebound tomorrow night as RHP Stephen McCray (6-5, 3.80) takes the hill against Ian Thomas (3-3, 2.43). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM CDT.
