Oklahoma City Barons News Release

Jack Combs had a goal and an assist as the Oklahoma City Barons won their second straight against the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday afternoon at the Cox Convention Center by a score of 5-4 in the shootout.

In the sixth round of a shootout tied 2-2, Stretch deked Marek Mazanec before sending the puck over the Milwaukee net minder's glove to give theBarons a 3-2 lead in the shootout after Milwaukee's Mikka Salomaki's final shot went wide of the Barons net.

Combs tallied his first goal as a member of the Barons at 9:39 of the second period when he beat Admirals goalie Mazanec to a rebound off a David Musil shot and backhanded it past the Admirals goaltender to give the Barons a 2-1 lead.

The Admirals got out to a quick lead just 1:39 into the game when Filip Forsberg received a Taylor Beck pass in the Barons slot and flipped the puck over a kneeling Richard Bachman for a 1-0 lead.

Despite being whistled for four penalties in the first period, the Barons managed to even the score in the closing minutes of the opening frame when Combs sent a cross-ice pass to Tyler Pitlick behind the Milwaukee defense. Pitlick's quick shot beat Mazanec, tying the game at 18:53.

After Combs' goal put Oklahoma City up 2-1 in the second period, the Barons extended their lead to 3-1 when Matthew Ford took a pass from Denis Grebeshkov and stick-handled his way past Admirals defender Joe Piskula before depositing the puck into the Milwaukee net at 6:55.

The Admirals cut the Oklahoma City lead to 3-2 when Vinny Saponari ripped a snap shot from the left circle that beat Bachman on the glove side at 12:30 in the third period.

Oklahoma City extended its lead to 4-3 when Taylor Fedun blasted a slap shot from just beyond the right circle that ricocheted off the leg of Milwaukee center Mark Van Guilder and into the Admirals net before Mazanec could slide over to make the stop.

After an icing call brought the puck back into the Barons zone with 4.2 seconds left in regulation, Simon Moser tied the game when he grabbed the puck off the faceoff and slid a shot under Bachman's pads at 19:57 of the third period.

After a scoreless overtime period, the Barons and Admirals were tied at two goals apiece in the shootout after Oklahoma City goals by Combs and Ryan Hamilton and Milwaukee scores by Taylor Beck and Moser before C.J. Stretch netted the shootout winner.

Oklahoma City travels to Charlotte for a two-game set against the Checkers Thursday and Friday. The Barons are back home on January 30 against the Toronto Marlies.
