
Barons collect three home runs in 9-2 win over Braves

Hoover, AL- In the third game of a four game series, the Birmingham Barons scored five runs in the 6th inning and hit three total homers in the game to get their first win over the M-Braves in this series. Mississippi had an early 1-0 lead, but the Barons came to life in the middle innings and were never threatened after that. Mississippi is now (13-10) vs. Birmingham this season, these two teams play the final game of the year against each other tomorrow.Â
Mississippi scored first when Michael Daniel singled in Christian Colonel in the 4th inning. It was the only lead the Braves had all day. After giving up two runs to the Barons in the 5th inning, Mississippi tied it in the top of the 6th. Christian Colonel doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch to put the score even at 2-2.Â
Birmingham struck hard in the bottom of the 6th by sending nine batters to the plate and scoring five of them. Against reliever, Yeliar Castro, Johs Phegley and Justin Greene both had two-run homers in the inning. Tyler Juhn tripled in the other run to give Birmingham a 7-2 lead. The Barons tacked on another in the 7th on a sac-fly RBI from Phegley, and their final run on a solo home run by Sal Sanchez in the 8th. The Barons won 9-2 to get their first win in the series.
Tomorrow is the last game of the season and will begin at 12:30. The Braves will send out RHP J.J. Hoover (0-1; 7.71) against Birmingham's LHP Charlie Leesman (5-2; 2.81).Â
