
First Inning Explosion Propels Diamond Jaxx

JACKSON, TENN. - The Diamond Jaxx (72-66) put on an offensive exhibition Sunday afternoon at Pringles Park, thrashing the Lookouts, 13-2. The Jaxx had 16 hits in the game and scored seven of their 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Jaxx have won seven straight over the Lookouts and lead the season series, 14 to 4. The win also secures the series win for the Jaxx. Alex Liddi extended his hitting streak to 13 straight games in the big win.
Scott Savastano and Johan Limonta had four hits each on the afternoon. Savastano was 4-for-5 with two runs scored, a homerun and a season high five RBI's. Limonta was 4-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Guillermo Quiroz was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, for the Jaxx. Chattanooga was led by catcher, Alex Garabedian who had two hits and an RBI.
Jarrett Grube (5-5) went 6.2 innings for the Jaxx on Sunday and allowed just two runs on six hits. Grube struck out three and walked one in his second straight win. Chris Withrow (4-9) suffered the loss and could not escape the first inning. In 2/3 of an inning Withrow gave up seven runs on six hits. The #2 prospect, according to Baseball America for the Dodgers now has a 5.97 ERA.
The Diamond Jaxx batted 13 in the bottom of the first inning and scored seven runs on six hits. Alex Liddi and Leury Bonilla had two RBI doubles. Johan Limonta drove in one with a double, while Guillermo Quiroz and Scott Savastano had RBI singles. The seven run outburst was the second-most in an inning this season.
Alex Garabedian plated the Lookouts first run with a double in the top of the fifth inning. Elian Herrera brought in the second run of the inning with an RBI groundout. The Jaxx lead was cut to 7-2 after the fifth inning.
Scott Savastano hit a 2-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning and then added a 2-RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Jaxx scored six runs in the seventh and eighth and went up 13-2 over Chattanooga.
The final game of the regular season is Monday at 2:05 at Pringles Park. LHP Jimmy Gilheeney (0-2, 10.22) starts for the Jaxx against RHP Will Savage (0-1, 10.80) for Chattanooga. Monday is Fan Appreciation Day. Also the Diamond Jaxx new team name and logo will be unveiled to fans after the Labor Day game.

The Jaxx will host game three of the Division Series on Saturday, September 11th, at Pringles Park, with first pitch at 5:05. The playoffs will begin in Kodak, TN on Thursday night at 6:15 CDT at Smokies Park. Game two of the Division Series is also at Smokies Park on Friday. The Division Series is a best of five series with game's four and five if necessary being back at Smokies Park on Sunday and Monday.
