Lancaster Stormers News Release
The generosity of the Camden Riversharks was turned into a late-inning Lancaster surge on Wednesday evening as the visiting Barnstormers rallied for a 10-6 win in the middle game of a three-game series at Campbell's Field.
With the win, the Barnstormers pulled back to within one game of .500 (12-13) on the season.
Six of the Barnstormers runs over the final three innings were unearned.
The gifts started in the top of the seventh. With Lancaster trailing, 4-2, Kody Kirkland picked up a leadoff walk, and Kevin Howard slapped a single off the glove of third baseman Eddy Perez. Petey Paramore laid down a bunt along the third base line, which was fielded by reliever Jon Velasquez. The right -hander's throw to first was low and toward the infield side of the bag, skipping down the right field line. The tying runs scored on the play and Paramore ended up at second. Velasquez retired the next two batters, but Jerry Owens put Lancaster on top with a single to center, plating Paramore.
After Raul Padron slammed a two-run homer off the right field foul pole in the bottom of the seventh to vault Camden back into the lead, the Barnstormers took advantage of more miscues in the top of the eighth.
Blake Gailen led off the inning with a weak pop up on the left side of the infield. The play fell in front of Perez, who dug the ball out, then fired it into the first base dugout, giving Gailen second. Kirkland was hit by a pitch from Ryan Quigley (1-1). The right-hander retired the next two batters before Daryle Ward tied the game with a single to right. Olmo Rosario singled up the middle to score Kirkland for a 7-6 lead. Owens followed with his second RBI single of the night scoring Ward. Rosario scampered around when the ball skipped by center fielder Burt Reynolds for a two-base error.
A double by Gailen and single by Kirkland combined to score Lancaster's 10th run in the top of the ninth.
Camden had grabbed a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Salomon Manriquez and a two-run double by Chris Walker. Johnny Drennen's sac fly in the fifth made it 4-1, but Travis Denker narrowed the gap with a solo homer to dead center in the sixth.
The two clubs play for the final time in the first half at 11:00 AM on Thursday. Will Savage (3-1) is slated to make the start for Lancaster, but word Wednesday evening is that he may be replaced by lefty Horacio Ramirez (0-0). Right-hander Michael McGuire (1-1) is scheduled for the Riversharks.
