Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - Scoring a major recruiting coup, the Iowa Barnstormers Arena Football Club today outmaneuvered and outfoxed not only its arena football competitors, but professional football teams at all levels, as they anticipate securing the services of WHO Radio personality Van Harden to the vital "Left Out" position on the 2008 Barnstormers squad.

The Barnstormers front office today confirmed that on Thursday, January 17 at 12:30 p.m., WHO Radio personality Van Harden will sign his 2008 Barnstormers player contract during the team's inaugural Pick-a-Seat Promotion at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines.

"Van is truly one of those once in a lifetime athletes," said Barnstormers Head Coach John Gregory, who has nearly four decades of coaching experience. "I mean, words cannot describe the things I saw on his game films."

"This is the shot heard 'round the arena football league. We've put the league on notice that the Barnstormers will leave no stone unturned in finding, evaluating and signing top talent," said Barnstormers President Jeff Lamberti, noting the "ninth man" or "Left Out" position is crucial to the team's prospects for the 2008 season.

Coach Gregory will preview Harden's player contract signing Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. when he appears live on WHO-1040's Van & Bonnie Show.

On Thursday, Barnstormers fans, season ticket holders and WHO listeners will have an opportunity to meet Coach John Gregory and witness Van Harden's contract signing during a lunch hour event at Wells Fargo Arena. Coach Gregory and Barnstormers Quarterback Davon Vinson will be available at noon to meet and greet fans, while Van's official signing will occur at 12:30 p.m. For additional details about the Barnstormers 2008 Pick-a-Seat Promotion, call the Barnstormers' front office at (515) 633-BALL (2255).
