Lancaster Stormers News Release

The Lancaster Barnstormers erupted for six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to cruise to a 10-3 victory over the Camden Riversharks in a series finale Thursday evening at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Lancaster won back-to-back games for the first time in 2 1/2 weeks and, in the process, retook possession of first place in the Freedom Division.

Adam Godwin, leading off the seventh for the Barnstormers, was hit by a 1-2 pitch from Blake King (2-3) and moved to second on Fehlandt Lentini's sacrifice bunt up the third base line.

Then came the deluge. Camden went to left-hander Spencer Steedley to face Blake Gailen, who grounded the first pitch up the middle for an RBI single, giving Lancaster the 4-3 lead. The Riversharks went to the bullpen again, ushering in right-hander Josh Walter. He did not get an out, either. Tommy Everidge banged a single to right center, and Ryan Harvey nailed a long double over Chris Walker's head in center, scoring both runners for a 6-3 advantage. Walter issued walks to both Kody Kirkland and Danny Gonzalez before exiting. Recently acquired southpaw James Houser came on and was greeted by Francisco Hernandez' two-run single to left. Bridger Hunt tacked on another run with a single into center, and Godwin loaded the bases with a single stroked into left before Houser could get out of the inning.

For good measure, Everidge lined a homer onto the picnic deck in the bottom of the eighth.

The Riversharks grabbed a 2-0 lead through 3 1/2. Steve Doetsch pounded a double off the left field fence against Horacio Ramirez to start the third and moved up on Lloyd Turner's bunt. With the infield pulled in, Walker floated a single over Hunt to score the first run.

Pedro Feliz chimed in with a leadoff homer in the fourth, but, for the second straight night, Kirkland hit a two-run homer to tie the game at 2-2. Lentini and Gailen both doubled to produce a lead run in the bottom of the fifth against starter Eddy Camacho.

Unlike Wednesday night, the 3-2 lead did not hold. Walker singled to center with one out in the eighth, advanced to second on Paddy Matera's sacrifice and scored when Eduardo Perez knocked a 2-2 pitch from Beau Vaughan (4-0) into left to knot the game at three.

Somerset comes to Clipper Magazine Stadium on Friday night to open a three-game series with fireworks to follow the game. There will also be an appearance by WCW star Diamond Dallas Page. The Barnstormers will send J.D. Durbin (6-8) to the mound against right-hander Sean Green.
