Barnstormers Sign UNI Alum Defensive Back

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have signed defensive back Malcolm Washington to the 2024 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.

Washington (6-2, 205, UNI) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his first season with the team. Collegiately, Washington began his career at Fresno State where he spent two seasons appearing in 26 games recording 45 tackles and seven pass breakups. Washington then went on to the University of Northern Iowa to complete his collegiate career, racking up 91 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and six interceptions. During his time with the Panthers, Washington earned numerous accolades including All-MVFC Second-Team and MVFC All-Newcomer Team Honors.

Following his collegiate career, Washington was invited to the Arizona Cardinals rookie minicamp. Washington went on to sign with the Stuttgart Surge of the European League of Football and also saw time with the Houston Gamblers of the USFL.

Washington will put his goggles on this weekend as the Iowa Barnstormers return to Wells Fargo Arena for their home opener against the Arizona Rattlers. Fans can tune into the game on YouTube or Caffeine.tv.
