Lancaster Stormers News Release

Ben Francisco seems to love coming back to the Philadelphia area.

The Lancaster right fielder, a former Phillie, launched two solo home runs as the Barnstormers topped Camden, 4-1, early Wednesday in the finale of a three-game series at Campbell's Field.

Those homers were Francisco's third and fourth as a Barnstormer. He has blasted three at the pitcher-friendly Campbell's.

He connected toward left center against another ex-Phil, Pedro Liriano (0-6), with two outs in the third to snap a 1-1 tie. The second led off the sixth and was hit to straightaway left, bouncing near the top of the wall and off the upper signs.

Cole Garner tacked on Lancaster's third home run, his league leading 16th of the season, with two outs in the eighth.

Garner singled to right in the first, stole second and came home on Andrew Clark's single to center for the Barnstormers' first run.

Dan Osterbrock (7-2) was reached only in the second. Alex Hudak dropped a double to left, just out of reach of the diving Brock Kjeldgaard with one out. Brian Van Kirk had a hit taken away on a strong play in the hole by Lance Zawadzki, but Jose Morales stroked a soft liner into center to score the run.

Osterbrock completed seven innings, yielding five hits while walking two and striking out four. Jason Richardson and Ross Peeples split the eighth, and Pete Parise worked the ninth for his first save.

The Barnstormers open a four-game series against Long Island on Thursday evening. Right-hander Cory Wade (2-2) will get his second start for the Barnstormers against right-hander Rob Whitenack (1-1). There will be a candy drop from a helicopter as the Barnstormers celebrate an All-American favorite, the caramel. Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; 1600-AM, WPDC; 1390wlan.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 6:45.

NOTES: Garner stole two bases in the game and was awarded another base on a balk...They were his first steals since June 23...Francisco's two-homer game was the first by a Barnstormer since Wilson Batista connected twice against Southern Maryland on June 28...Lance Zawadzki was 0-for-4, ending his hitting streak at nine games.
