Lancaster Stormers News Release

The New Britain Bees finished a three-day assault on Lancaster's left-handed pitching with a four-run ninth on Thursday evening en route to a 7-3 victory in the finale of the three-game series.

With the loss, Lancaster's lead over second place Sugar Land has been cut back to three games in the Freedom Division.

Darren Ford greeted Matt Reynolds (0-1) with a homer on the lefty's first pitch of the ninth inning. Reid Brignac reached on a bad hop single, and Deibinson Romero followed with a double into the left field corner. After a walk to Jason Rogers, Reynolds became the first left-handed pitcher in the series to retire Josh Thole, getting him on a pop up to third. Jonathan Galvez extended the lead with a bases loaded walk, and Jamar Walton capped the scoring with a two-run single yanked into right.

New Britain grabbed an early lead off southpaw Tommy Shirley with consecutive two-out RBI singles by Thole, Galvez and Walton in the first inning. Shirley found trouble again in the second as Ford singled and stole second. Brignac followed with a walk. At that point, the Lancaster lefty turned his night around. He got Romero to ground into a force out and Rogers to rap into a double play, bringing the threat to an abrupt close.

Ryan Casteel homered off Rainy Lara in the Lancaster second. K.C. Hobson reached on a dropped fly ball in the fourth and scored on a two-out single to right by Trayvon Robinson.

Blake Gailen bashed a tying homer off Lara in the bottom of the sixth.

Josh Outman (1-1) worked a scoreless eighth to pick up the win for New Britain.

The Barnstormers open a three-game series at Long Island Friday evening. Brooks Hall (2-2) will make the start for Lancaster against Ducks' player-coach and all-time leading winner John Brownell (3-4). Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube Channel, beginning at 6:15.
