Bridgewater, NJ- The York Revolution (21-20) defeated the Somerset Patriots (25-18) 7-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday evening.

The Patriots took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Danny Dorn and an RBI groundout by Aaron Dudley.

York got on the board in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI double by Wellington Dotel that cut the lead to 2-1.

Julio Borbon answered for Somerset with a solo home run (3) in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Revolution plated a run in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Michael Burgess that made the score 3-2.

Melky Mesa put the Revolution on top 5-3 in the eighth inning with a three-run home run (2).

York got another home run, a two-run shot, off the bat of Travis Witherspoon (3) in the top of the ninth inning for the 7-3 final.

"I really don't think we played clean in all aspects of the game," said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. "We really could have added some more runs there early, especially with the bases loaded and no outs. [York] did have some big hits, some big home runs, and that was the difference."

Mitch Atkins (2-3) picked up the win, allowing three earned runs on eight hits and eight strikeouts over seven innings pitched. Mike Antonini (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing three runs- two earned- on a hit in 1.1 innings pitched.

The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home with a 7:05 pm game against the New Britain Bees on Friday, June 15th. The game features a Post Game Fireworks Show presented by Carrier Clinic. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
